What is Bactrim DS (Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim)?

Bactrim DS (Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim) is an oral medication that is commonly used for treating bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, and acne. It belongs to a class of drugs called sulfonamides. It works by interfering with the production of the bacterial cell walls and destroying them. This makes the infection more difficult to treat and can lead to serious health problems.

Bactrim DS is effective against a wide range of bacteria, including bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics. Bactrim DS may be used in the treatment of certain infections such as urinary tract infections, acne, and pneumonia. It can also be used to treat infections caused by Helicobacter pylori bacteria. Bactrim DS can also be used to treat certain types of infections, such as ear infections and dental infections, when taken as prescribed.

You should always follow the prescribed dosage and treatment plan to ensure that your infection is effectively treated.

How does Bactrim DS work?

The drug works by inhibiting the production of the bacterial cell wall. This means that the active ingredient, sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim, is released when an infection is brought to a specific site. This inhibits the growth of the bacteria causing the infection.

How to take Bactrim DS?

It is advisable to take Bactrim-Sulfamethoxazole (reetamouston) at regular intervals without any disruption in the regular treatment with antibiotic. The regular treatment with antibiotic will usually not increase the dosage of antibiotic but will alter its effect with time and will therefore need to be continued as long as needed. It is recommended to take Bactrim-Sulfamethoxazole (reetamouston twice a day) on an empty stomach at about the same time every day. The dosage is determined by the type of bacteria affected and is dependent on the type of bacteria. Patients with sensitive or resistant strains of bacteria should take the antibiotic only when necessary. Bactrim-Sulfamethoxazole (reetamouston is available as generic and brand) should not be used along with Salmonella or Campylobacter as the combination of these bacteria diseases with Bactrim-Sulfamethoxazole (reetamouston can be absorbed and can be eliminated in the urine and stool) may result in post-herpetic neuralgia.
